D’Station Racing will enter the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, entering the GTE Am category with support from TF Sport.
The Japanese outfit has been partnered with Aston Martin since 2018, and has campaigned the Vantage GT3 in various series, including Japanese Super GT and the Asian Le Mans Series.
For the 2021 season, it will enter the #777 Aston Martin Vantage AMR into the GTE Am category, with Tomonobu Fujii and Satoshi Hoshino confirmed as drivers. A third driver will be announced in due course.
Hoshino has made sporadic appearances in the WEC, but this will mark the first time the Japanese gentleman driver has embarked on a full-season WEC campaign.
“I am very excited to announce our entry for the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 89th 24 Hours of Le Mans,” said Fujii, who is also D’Station Racing team manager. “Being able to compete in the FIA WEC has been a major goal for D’station Racing since its inauguration.
“As this project comes to fruition, I recall all the preparation we went through with Aston Martin, AMR, and Tom Ferrier from TF Sport. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for their ongoing support.”
For TF Sport, the deal means it has expanded to a two-car WEC operation for the first time in its history. Tom Ferrier’s squad first began racing in the WEC during the 2018/19 season and took a class win at Le Mans in 2020.
It announced plans for its other entry earlier on Tuesday, with gentleman driver Ben Keating signing up for a full season campaign with the British team.
“We are very happy to welcome D’station Racing to WEC,” said Ferrier. “As a fellow partner team of Aston Martin Racing, we know them well and I hope that by us joining forces with them for 2021 in WEC, we will deliver a long and successful relationship for many years to come.”
