MP Motorsport driver Felipe Drugovich stormed to his third victory of the Formula 2 season in Saturday’s Feature Race at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The Brazilian made a superb start from second on the grid to snatch the lead from pole-sitter Callum Ilott and then overhauled the UNI-Virtuosi driver once more after losing out through the pit stop phase.

Drugovich went on to register victory over Ilott by 10 seconds.

Ilott nonetheless cut Mick Schumacher’s title advantage to just 12 points with three races remaining in 2020.

Schumacher leapt from 10th to fourth on the opening lap but was unable to make further progress despite a fierce scrap with Carlin’s Jehan Daruvala.

Daruvala held on for the final spot on the podium, his first top-three result in Formula 2, leaving Schumacher to settle for fourth.

Schumacher’s possible 2021 team-mate, Nikita Mazepin, was a solid fifth while Red Bull youngster Yuki Tsunoda carved his way from the back of the grid to remain in outside title contention by taking sixth.

Marcus Armstrong came home seventh ahead of Robert Shwartzman, who will start Sunday’s Sprint Race from pole position.

Dan Ticktum and Jack Aitken rounded out the top 10.

The Sprint Race is scheduled for 13:00 local time on Sunday.
