Andre Lotterer set the fastest lap in the first of three days of Formula E pre-season testing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain.
The opening day of the test began in rainy conditions, and after Edoardo Mortara ended the morning session at the top of the timesheets, weather improved in the afternoon.
As the track began to dry out, lap times began to tumble and by producing a 1:12.519s run – some 7.6s faster than his best efforts from the morning – Lotterer led the way.
The Porsche driver was closely followed by double Formula E champion and former team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne, with the DS Techeetah driver trailing the German by a mere 0.088s gap.
Reigning champion Antonio Felix da Costa was third in the timings, a further 0.044s shy of his team-mate while Nick Cassidy recorded fourth at the end of his first day as an Envision Virgin Racing driver.
Alexander Sims clocked the second-highest lap count in the afternoon en route to completing the top five for Mahindra, while Rene Rast fronted Audi’s efforts in sixth.
Formula E rookie Norman Nato caused the only red flag of the afternoon for Venturi Racing and set the seventh-fastest time for the Monegasque marque. He was followed by Nico Muller who was eighth.
BMW’s Jake Dennis again placed inside the top 10 by delivering the German outfit with ninth ahead of Robin Frijns who completed the top 10 in the second Envision Virgin.
