Sepang Racing’s Franco Morbidelli says he thinks he had ‘dynamite for breakfast’ after taking a commanding victory in the Alcaniz GP at Aragon.

The Italian pilot cruised his way to the checkered flag leading the way from pole position as he held off the team Ecstar Suzuki pair of Joan Mir and previous Aragon victor Alex Rins.

Following the win, Morbidelli praised his bike although mentioned that he took a risk on the choice of tyres before the start of the race

He said: “I had dynamite for breakfast I think. I felt great out there and the bike was amazing.

“We gambled a bit on the tyre choice; we knew we had to do something differnt in this way so we went for the medium tyre (on the front).”

However, this decision turned out to work well for the Italian rider, as it enabled him to command the lead from start to finish.

“This paid off really well in the race and I was feeling great with the package”, Morbidelli said.

Morbidelli currently sits in fourth in the 2020 MotoGP riders’ championship on 112 points, just behind Maverick Viñales, but is confident that he will be able to climb up the standings in the remaining races.

“We are back in the game now, just 25 points from the top and I think we should be as aggressive in Valencia and Portimao as we were today.

“I’m feeling great and I want to go full attack (for the title) like we have been lately”, he said.

The number 21 rider adds that achieving this will depend on more than “just our attitude”, saying that there will be lots of things that “come into play.”

“For sure, we will be in full attack for the rest of the season”, Morbidelli said.
