The Racing Point Formula 1 team has appointed experienced businessman Jefferson Slack to the newly-created role of Commercial and Marketing Managing Director.
The squad, which holds fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, will morph into Aston Martin Racing from 2021, and field four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel.
Slack spent six years representing basketball legend Michael Jordan and then spent time in the football industry as the CEO of Italian club Inter Milan.
He has also held consultancy roles with FIBA, IMG and Dorna Sports.
Slack will be responsible for all commercial and marketing activities within the team and starts the newly-created position with immediate effect.
He will report to Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer.
“I believe this is one of the most exciting commercial opportunities, not just in Formula 1, but in the whole of the sports industry,” said Slack.
“We are looking to build an iconic new sports brand in Aston Martin F1 Team, and in the process we believe we will create a unique global marketing platform for other brands and partners.
“I am looking forward to working with [owner] Lawrence [Stroll] and Otmar, and building a world-class commercial and marketing team.”
