Nico Müller continues to set the pace at the third round of the DTM at the Lausitzring, leading second practice ahead of Team Abt stablemate Robin Frijns.
Müller, who comes into the weekend with three race wins out of four starts, posted a 01:36:904 to top the charts for the second session in a row.
The Swiss driver’s best efforts were just 0.015s quicker than team-mate Robin Frijns, who set a 01:36:916 to take second.
Both Müller and Frijns set a fair gap to the rest of the field. BMW’s Sheldon van der Linde, who took his maiden podium last week, was 0.435s down on the quickest time in third place.
The South African was joined in the top five by Jamie Green in fourth and Lucas Auer in fifth, with less than half a tenth separating the three drivers.
Philipp Eng was just over half a second back in sixth place, ahead of Mike Rockenfeller and Rene Rast. Rast, who took his first win of the season last Sunday, lost 0.671s to his rival Müller and found himself in eighth place. The top ten was completed by Jonathan Aberdein and Timo Glock.
Harrison Newey was the best placed rookie in eleventh, ahead of Marco Wittmann, Robert Kubica and Loic Duval, while the Team WRT pairing of Ferdinand Habsburg and Fabio Scherer completed the bottom of the timesheets.
