Felipe Drugovich completed a double victory for MP Motorsport by winning the FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race in Barcelona.
The Brazilian started second before getting a better getaway than reverse-grid pole-sitter Luca Ghiotto.
Unlike those that struggled with their hard tyres including Guanyu Zhou, Callum Ilott and Robert Shwartzman, Drugovich was able to manage them to the end to win out by over nine seconds and claiming the extra two points for the fastest lap.
Ghiotto was able to hold off Mick Schumacher to take second, with the German in third position.
Yuki Tsunoda finished strong again in fourth, ahead of this weekend’s Feature Race winner Nobuharu Matsushita in fifth.
Nikita Mazepin was sixth in the second Hitech in front Pedro Piquet, who picks up his first points of the season in seventh.
Christian Lundgaard overtook Ilott on the last lap to cross the line in eighth but was given a five-second time penalty for passing the Brit by going off the racetrack on the exit of Turn 13. Thus, the UNI-Virtuosi driver collected that last point, as Lundgaard was classified 11th.
The situation in the Drivers’ Standings after six rounds sees Ilott’s lead increase slightly to 18 points over Robert Shwartzman.
FIA Formula 2 will contest at Spa next in two weeks time, supporting the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.
