Porsche, Corvette and Lexus have all been handed weight penalties as part of the updated Balance of Performance for the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR. In the BoP bulletin, issued on Friday, both the Porsche 911 RSR-19 and Corvette C8.R have seen their minimum weight increased by 20 kilograms. BMW has received a slight weight decrease of five kilograms.
Corvette took its second one-two victory and third win in a row in the rain-affected race at Road America, which was the #912 Porsche 911 RSR-19 led for most of the race until spinning off when Earl Bamber was caught out by the heavy rain.
In GTD, Lexus has also seen its minimum weight increased by 15 kilograms. The pair of AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3s have been dominant since the season restarted, winning the Weathertech 240 at Daytona, Cadillac Grand Prix of Sebring and the previous round at Road America.
The Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo is the only car in class to receive a weight break, with officials shaving 20 kilograms off the R8’s minimum weight.
