DTM points leader Nico Müller has set the fastest time in opening practice for the first of two DTM rounds at the Lausitzring.
Müller led the way with a best time of 01:16:714, which was 0.086s quicker than Team WRT’s Ferdinand Habsburg in second place. Marco Wittmann was third fastest, 0.217s off the quickest time.
Müller comes into the double header at the Lausitzring with two wins under his belt after it was revealed on Friday that Rene Rast has been stripped of his win at Spa-Francorchamps for a push-to-pass infringement.
Mike Rockenfeller was fourth fastest, ahead of Jamie Green, Philipp Eng, Loic Duval and Sheldon van der Linde with the top eight runners separated by half a second. The top ten was completed by Robin Frijns and Lucas Auer.
Frijns, Müller and Rene Rast traveled to the Lausitzring in northeastern Germany from Berlin after completing the Formula E season finale in Berlin on Thursday.
Rast was eleventh fastest, 0.889s behind his championship rival. Jonathan Aberdein was twelfth, ahead of Fabio Scherer, Robert Kubica, Timo Glock and Harrison Newey.
