Nico Müller has topped the second and final practice session at Lausitzring, while reigning champion Rene Rast barely made it into the top ten in ninth place.
Müller set a best time of 01:15:831 in his Audi RS5 DTM, 0.043s quicker than Mike Rockenfeller. Marco Wittmann was BMW’s best driver in third place, 0.260s behind Müller.
Philipp Eng set the fourth quickest time in his BMW M4 DTM, ahead of Jamie Green, Ferdinand Habsburg, Sheldon van der Linde and Robin Frijns.
Rast in ninth place
Reigning DTM champion Rene Rast completed a challenging Friday in ninth place after finishing eleventh in opening practice. His best effort was just under half a second off Müller’s best time.
Loic Duval was tenth, ahead of Timo Glock and Jonathan Aberdein. Robert Kubica was the best placed rookie in thirteenth.
The Pole’s best time of 01:16:708 was nearly a full second behind Müller, but quicker than Lucas Auer and fellow rookies Fabio Scherer and Harrison Newey.
