A Lewis Hamilton-backed vegan burger restaurant has partnered with the new electric off-road motor racing championship, Extreme E, becoming its official ‘Plant-based Partner’.
Neat Burger, which launched in 2019, is part-owned by vegan and six-time Formula 1 World Champion Hamilton.
The restaurant, which claims to be the ‘world’s first plant-based sustainable burger chain’ is also co-owned by UNICEF Ambassador and early backer of Beyond Meat, Tommaso Chiabra.
Extreme E founder, Alejandro Agag, believes Neat Burger is the perfect partner for the “sustainable” series given the values they both share.
“It’s a little different for a motorsport series to have a plant-based partner but as we look to create a sport for purpose it is important to consider all the areas that impact how sustainable and environmentally friendly our championship is, and our food choices play a key role,” said Agag.
“Neat Burger shares the same values as Extreme E in terms of environmental wellbeing and promoting solutions for our planet, and we certainly believe it’s important for us all to acknowledge that what we eat is having a real impact on our planet. I’m delighted we will be serving food on our race sites that aligns so well to our values of being better for the earth.”
Neat Burger will create a dedicated burger for each Extreme E event when the series debuts in 2021, where it will race across five remote locations; arctic, desert, rainforest, glacier, and coastal, to highlight the damage being done to our world.
Stasi Nychas, Co-Founder and Head of Operations at Neat Burger added: “We are delighted to team up with Extreme E as its official Plant-based Partner ahead of the launch of its 2021 championship.
“As the world’s first plant-based sustainable burger chain, we are committed to championing environmental sustainability and playing our part in positively impacting the environment.
“Therefore, we are proud to have partnered with such a like-minded brand in Extreme E, whose team is dedicated to spreading awareness and promoting solutions to climate change and other serious environmental issues.”
