Callum Ilott has qualified on pole position for the second FIA Formula 2 Feature Race at Silverstone.
The Brit was outside the top ten at the end of the first run but managed to pull out a blinder of a flying lap to jump straight up to being fastest with four minutes of the session remaining.
Due to Sean Gelael spinning out on the exit of Copse on his last flying lap, the majority of the field had to slow down under yellow flags. Therefore, no one was able to improve their times.
Joining Ilott on the front row will be Christian Lundgaard, with Jack Aitken achieving his best qualifying of the season in third for Campos.
Dan Ticktum is the next Brit in fourth ahead of Luca Ghiotto, Guanyu Zhou and Nikita Mazepin.
Mick Schumacher is the first of the PREMAs in eighth, with Louis Deletraz and Yuki Tsunoda making up the top ten. Championship-leader Robert Shwartzman had another difficult session and could manage no better than 11th.
Pole position has also earned Ilott four championship points, reducing the margin between him and Shwartzman from eight to four going into the Feature Race.
You can see the first race of this weekend’s FIA Formula 2 round on Saturday at 15:45 BST.
