Lewis Hamilton will start the Austrian Grand Prix from second spot after stewards opted to take no further action over an alleged yellow flag infringement.
Stewards had summoned Hamilton after he was alleged to have ignored yellow flags that were shown when Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas went off the circuit.
Hamilton continued on his Q3 push lap and set his personal best time.
Hamilton “mentioned that he passed a green light panel in Turn 5” during his meeting with the stewards.
Video footage was reviewed that “confirmed there have been yellow flags and green light panels at the same time, and therefore conflicting signals were shown to the driver.”
As a result stewards opted not to take any further action.
Hamilton was found guilty of exceeding track limits at Turn 10 on his first Q3 push lap and stewards duly deleted the time.
However as his second Q3 push lap was faster he will still start from second place on the grid.
