NASCAR issued $10,000 fines to crew chiefs from four NASCAR Cup Series teams as a result of loose or missing lug nuts during the June 27-28 doubleheader weekend at Pocono Raceway.
Fines were issued to teams from Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing for infractions both days. Chris Gabehart, crew chief on the #11 JGR team of Denny Hamlin, and Johnny Klausmeier, crew chief on the #14 SHR team of Clint Bower, were fined, because their cars each had one lug nut loose or missing at the end of the Pocono Organics 325 on June 27.
Kevin Harvick won the Pocono Organics 325 on June 27, and Hamlin finished second.
Harvick’s #4 SHR entry had a lug nut loose or missing at the end of the Pocono 350 on June 28, resulting in the fine to his crew chief, Rodney Childers. Also, James Small, crew chief on the #19 JGR team of driver Martin Truex Jr., was fined because of a loose or missing lug nut on Truex’s car at the end of the June 28 race.
