The FIA says it has sent a COVID-19 protocol reminder to Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull’s Christian Horner and Helmut Marko after the trio were spotted chatting without masks.
The FIA has laid out strict protocols in order to keep the Formula 1 paddock safe, including wearing masks, observing social distancing and team bubbles – where members of one team shouldn’t be in contact with another.
Vettel was seen meeting with Horner and Marko in the paddock on Saturday, with none of three wearing masks.
As a result, the FIA delegate wrote to both teams to remind them of the COVID-19 measures put in place for the safety of the entire paddock.
However there is no fine or sporting penalty for breaching the rules, but the FIA can ban those who fail to adhere to them from future events.
“No individual is forced to agree to comply with this COVID-19 Code, and no individual will be sanctioned by the FIA for failing to do so; but any individual who does not agree to comply with this COVID-19 Code will not be granted access to and may not attend any Covered Event.”
There have been no reported cases of COVID-19 in the paddock.
