Red Bull became the latest Formula 1 team to run its 2020 car ahead of next weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix as it carried out a filming day at Silverstone.
Formula 1 teams are permitted two filming days per year in which current-spec cars can be used, albeit with running limited to 100km on promotional tyres.
In recent weeks Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault opted to run their 2018 cars, allowing for unlimited track time, while Racing Point and AlphaTauri put their 2020 machines into action.
With the UK government still requiring individuals to quarantine for two weeks UK-based Alexander Albon carried out running behind the wheel of the Honda-powered RB16 at a hot and sunny Silverstone.
It meant that Monaco-based Max Verstappen was not able to attend.
The private tests have allowed Formula 1 teams to practice the new social distancing and hygiene measures that will be in force for the foreseeable future.
Each Formula 1 team must remain separate from other squads inside the paddock while within the same teams there will be smaller bubbles arranged in order to separate personnel as much as possible.
