Chase Elliott received $100,000 bonus from fellow-NASCAR Cup Series driver Kevin Harvick and Camping World Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis for beating Kyle Busch in the May 26 North Carolina Education Lottery 200 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Recently on Twitter, Elliott named three charities the funds would go to.
The $50,000 awarded by Lemonis will go to Feed the Children’s COVID-19 efforts, while the $50,000 from Harvick will be split between the American Red Cross and the Bundle of Joy Fund, a foundation established by Busch and his wife, Samantha Busch, to assist families dealing with infertility.
“Y’all should definitely recognize this wouldn’t have happened or been any fun without KH tweeting what he did,” Elliott [@ChaseElliott] tweeted. “So thanks to him for making it all happen and Marcus for adding to the fun.”
The idea to offer the “bounty” was Harvick’s after Busch claimed wins in seven-consecutive Truck Series races he entered, dating back to 2018. Elliott not only finished ahead of Busch at Charlotte, he won the race.
