The Alsco Uniforms 500K NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed until 7 p.m. ET Thursday because of rain Wednesday. The race originally was scheduled for an 8:25 p.m. Wednesday green flag. The Alsco 300 is the second-consecutive race at Charlotte Motor Speedway and the fourth since NASCAR return from an approximate two-month break because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
William Byron will start the race from the pole after finishing 20th in the Coca-Cola 600, also at CMS, on Sunday. The front half, or top-20, of the Coca-Cola 600 finishing order was inverted to set the top-20 of the Alsco Uniforms 500K starting lineup. One of Byron’s Hendrick Motorsports teammates, Alex Bowman, will start next to him on the front row after finishing 19th in Sunday’s race. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola 600 winner Brad Keselowski will start 20th.
Byron and Bowman’s teammate, seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will start last after being credited with a 40th-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 when his car failed post-race inspection. The back half of the 40-car starting grid for the Alsco Uniforms 500K will mirror the bottom half of the Coca-Cola 600 finishing order.
The Alsco Uniforms 500K is scheduled for a 208-lap distance in stages of 55, 60 and 93 laps.
ALSCO UNIFORMS 500K STARTING LINEUP
The postponement of the Alsco Uniforms 500K also has prompted NASCAR to postpone the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. That race, originally scheduled for an approximate 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday start, has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday.
