Toyota Gazoo Racing will field five cars for Rally Finland, which is set to take place on August 6-9.
The Japanese squad hopes to defend its unbeaten record in Finland since the current generation of World Rally Cars were introduced in 2017.
Esapekka Lappi won the event in 2017, followed by a double for Ott Tanak over the last two years and Toyota will be hoping to continue that trend by entering a joint-record five Yaris’.
Former Finland winner Sébastien Ogier spearheads the Toyota assault this time with Elfyn Evans, local teenage sensation Kalle Rovanpera and Takamoto Katsuta joining the Frenchman in the factory team.
A private car, expected to run at the same specification, will be fielded for Jari-Matti Latvala.
“It’s good to have five cars coming,” said team principal Tommi Mäkinen. “It’s interesting for our home event and for the fans.”
Toyota ran five cars earlier this season in Sweden, taking victory with Evans and had three cars in the top four positions.
