Lewis Hamilton has added another record to his already endless list with the title of Britiain’s all-time richest sportsman.
The six-time Formula 1 World Champion saw his wealth increase by £37 million over the past year to total £224m, putting him at the top of the Sunday Times Rich List with the highest figure in its 32-year history.
The figure sees him overtake David Beckham’s £200m earnings upon his retirement from football in 2013 – the list only includes active sportsmen and women, therefore Beckham, who has gone on to amass a fortune of £350m in post-sport investments is no longer included.
Hamilton meanwhile is set to increase his wealth by an estimated £50m with a new Mercedes contract.
Golfer Rory Mcllroy is the only other sports star to make the main Rich List, which ranks the top 1000 richest people in Britain. Mcllroy’s wealth stands at £170m.
