McLaren’s Lando Norris has accepted an invitation to join the IndyCar iRacing challenge with sister outfit Arrow McLaren SP.
Due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, numerous racing series have been setting up competitions to keep fans entertained in the virtual world.
Norris – a keen sim racer in his spare time, often found racing alongside fellow F1 star Max Verstappen – will take part in the penultimate round of IndyCar’s virtual competition which will be at the Circuit of the Americas, the only circuit which F1 and IndyCar share across both schedules.
Patricio O’Ward, who drives for McLaren’s sister IndyCar outfit, had called for Norris to join the series for the upcoming round at the Texas road course. The Mexican’s social media post was picked by IndyCar not long after and an invite was swiftly extended to Norris.
Well I guess that means the practice starts now then? 😉 https://t.co/vtCVyXPFSp

Norris is set to drive alongside his AMSP team-mates in O’Ward, Oliver Askew and Robert Wickens to make a four-car effort for the event.
The iRacing challenge has seen the majority of the grid filled by the current crop of IndyCar drivers, with guests at every round.
NASCAR stars Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson have taken part in the last three rounds at Motegi, Michigan and Barber Motorsports Park respectively.
The race is scheduled to get underway on Saturday April 25 at 19:30 GMT.
