Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson has given the shoes off his feet to assist a coronavirus-related fundraising effort. One person who donates at least $25 to the CDP COVID-19 Response Fund by the end of April will win an autographed pair of Johnson’s race-worn shoes.
The COVID-19 Response Fund was established by the Center for Disease Philanthropy (CDP) with a goal to raise $50,000. The money will be given to causes related to the preparedness, containment, response and recovery activities.
Donations may be made online. The winner of Johnson’s shoes will be chosen at random at the end of the fundraising program. As of 3 p.m. ET Saturday, 19 donors combined for an $855 tally.
