Alfa Romeo has confirmed that Robert Kubica will receive track time during Formula 1’s opening day of pre-season testing on Wednesday.
Kubica has returned to the team with which he raced under its BMW Sauber guise from 2006 to 2009 to take up the role of test and reserve driver.
Alfa Romeo has already carried out a shakedown with its C39, running with a special snakeskin livery, but it will undertake a full unveiling in its race colours before the start of testing.
Kubica will then sample the C39 on the opening morning of the three-day test, before racers Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi complete duties through Friday.
Kubica raced for Williams last season – ending an eight-year absence from the grid – and scored the team’s sole point at the rain-hit German Grand Prix.
Alfa Romeo finished eighth in the Constructors’ Championship.
