Honda officially unveiled its 2020 MotoGP campaign on Tuesday in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, displaying its updated RC213-V’s for its riders Marc and Alex Marquez.
The factory Honda squad will continue to run with title sponsor Repsol in what will be the Spanish oil brands 26th season with the team as chief partner.
The ’20 RC-213V features newly developed aerodynamic parts on the front of the machine, with its horizontal wings that featured during last year now curved in an upwards fashion, while a pair of new winglets have been added on each side just below to further aid the bike in the downforce department.
Alex Marquez was keen to stress of his keenness to learn throughout his debut MotoGP year, the 23 year old hoping be there or thereabouts before the end of the campaign.
“Of course my target is to be there by the end of the year, but for me and I want to improve and be there closer and closer every day,” said Alex.
“I hope to be competitive at Qatar and then continue every time to improve and eventually be there at the top of MotoGP.”
Marc Marquez enters his eighth season in both MotoGP and with Honda, having secured his sixth premier class title last year-having only missed out on the top prize once to Jorge Lorenzo and Yamaha in ’15- and keen to add a seventh this season.
“Of course our 2020 season as always will be hard, our competitors will try to improve and beat us but we are working hard with all the HRC staff to fight again for another world championship,” said Marc.
“This is the main target, the 2019 performance was very good but we’ll try to improve even further in 2020 to arrive in the closing races fighting for the title.
Brother Alex meanwhile makes the step up to MotoGP as the reigning Moto2 world champion, with today’s event the first time his bike has been seen in factory Repsol colours-having run in the HRC colours of red and blue up until now during testing.
Marc will continue to run with the number 93 on his Honda machine, while Alex will debut the number 73 he clinched the Moto2 world championship with.
