Dragonspeed has confirmed that it is taking part in the Lone Star Le Mans round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, fielding a one-off LMP2 entry.
The American outfit, fresh off winning top honours in the LMP2 category at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, was shown as participating on the recently released entry list for the championship’s upcoming round at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
On the entry list, there were no drivers listed as yet, but the team itself has now confirmed that the #21 ORECA 07-Gibson will be piloted by the Daytona-winning trio of Ben Hanley, Henrik Hedman and Colin Braun.
Hanley’s inclusion in the team’s line-up comes following the withdrawal of the Team LNT LMP1 outfit from the Texas round, as he was previously lined up to drive the #6 Ginetta G60-LT-P1 – AER before the two LMP1 cars disappeared off the entry list. Team LNT confirmed this morning that it would sit out the Texas round, saying the two cars needed ‘significant planned maintenance.’
The one-off appearance brings the LMP2 field back to the usual number as it takes the spot left by Cool Racing’s withdrawal, which was confirmed by the provisional entry list in December.
