The ABB FIA Formula E Championship has teased an online image of an evolved Gen2 car that is set to make its debut in Season 7.
Since the all-electric single-seater series, two chassis have been used – the Spark SRT01e and the SRT05e, also known as the Gen2.
Formula E’s present Gen2 car was introduced for Season 5 and while the vehicle shares the same visual properties for Season 6, will see tweaks later this year.
These changes were announced as part of the 2019/20 rules and regulations, with Formula E confirming that the Gen2 will have an extended lifecycle – used until the close of Season 8 – alongside evolved bodywork.
The teased image showcases the front-right of the vehicle, suggesting revisions on wheel fairings and an evolved front wing.
The series’ transition from its first to second-generation car marked a key advancement, with drivers now capable of completing a full race distance using one car while power usage has increased to 250kW – 235kW in race trim with Attack Mode activated.
Motorsport Week understands that Formula E will reveal the complete Gen2 EVO next month.
