Oliver Jarvis has put Mazda Team Joest on pole for the 58th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Briton set a time of 01:33:711 in the #77 Mazda RT24-P to grab the top spot in qualifying.

This was 0.443s clear of the #6 Team Penske Acura ARX-05 of Juan Pablo Montoya. Montoya’s time was just 0.015s clear of the #55 Mazda of Jonathan Bomarito. The Cadillacs lock out the fourth to seventh positions, with Felipe Nasr the lead DPI-VR in the #31 Whelen Engineering machine. Ryan Briscoe took fourth for Wayne Taylor Racing.

Tristan Vautier was fifth in the #85 JDC-Miller Motorsports ahead of Joao Barbosa’s #5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac.

The session for prototypes was interrupted when Ricky Taylor crashed the #7 Acura ARX-05 at the bus stop chicane. Taylor lost control of his car after jumping over a kerb on the apex, and went straight on into the tyre barrier. Taylor was unhurt.
