Ferrari has recruited Arthur Leclerc, younger driver of two-time Formula 1 race winner Charles, to its young driver scheme.
Leclerc, 19, was part of the Sauber Junior Team during 2019 and placed third in the German Formula 4 championship.
For 2020 Leclerc will switch to the Formula Regional European Championship, competing for Prema, alongside existing Ferrari junior Gianluca Petecof.
Ferrari has also added 15-year-old Swedish racer Dino Beganovic to its ranks.
Beganovic was recommended to Ferrari by Tony Kart – the organisation that acts as a scout for the team – and he will race in Italian and German Formula 4 this year.
“It’s been a busy winter for the Ferrari Driver Academy,” said Ferrari Sporting Director Laurent Mekies.
“We have been trying to build up the best development programme for our drivers in 2020, with a significant increase in their activities and training programme at our headquarters in Maranello.
“We have also been scouting for more talented youngsters and we are happy today to announce that Arthur and Dino are joining us for what’s going to be a very exciting season.
“We have FDA drivers in all the categories of the FIA single-seater ladder and our focus will be on supporting them the best we can in their development as racing drivers and as young individuals.
“All of us in Maranello are very much looking forward to seeing how our nine young drivers will perform over the coming months.”
Ferrari is backing five drivers in Formula 2 this season: Giuliano Alesi, Marcus Armstrong, Callum Ilott, Mick Schumacher and Robert Shwartzman, while Enzo Fittipaldi will compete in Formula 3.
