Acura Team Penske heads first Sunday Roar session

Acura Team Penske has topped the timing sheets in the first Sunday practice session at the Roar Before the 24.

Ricky Taylor set the pace in the #7 Acura ARX-05, posting a time of 01:33:617, which is the fastest time of the weekend so far. Juan Pablo Montoya was just under two-tenths back in the #6 Acura, with the #77 Mazda RT24-P of Olivier Pla third.

Felipe Nasr made the #31 Whelen Engineering car the fastest Cadillac in fourth by posting a 01:34:327 ahead of Tristan Vautier’s #85 JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac DPi-VR and Jonathan Bomarito’s #55 Mazda in sixth place.

Ben Hanley put Dragonspeed up top in LMP2, posting a 01:35:140 in the #81 ORECA 07-Gibson, nearly seven-tenths quicker than the #8 Tower Motorsport by Starworks ORECA of Nicolas Lapierre, with Simon Trummer third for PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports.

Risi Competizione continued their good form at the traditional pre-Rolex 24 test by going quickest in GTLM. Daniel Serra posted a 01:42:864 to outpace the two Porsche 911 RSR-19s of Laurens Vanthoor and Nick Tandy. The top five was rounded out by the #4 Corvette C8.R of Tommy Milner and the #25 BMW M8 GTE of Philipp Eng.

The #48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Bryan Sellers led proceedings in GTD with a time of 01:45:322 ahead of Dennis Olsen’s #9 PFAFF Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Qualifying to determine pitboxes and garages for GTLM and DPi runners is up next, before the three-day event concludes with one final hour-long practice session.
