W Series has announced a multi-year sponsorship agreement with ROKiT Phones, marking the category’s first major deal.
The company has expanded into motorsport sponsorship in recent years, most notably as the title sponsor of the Williams Formula 1 team, with which W Series champion Jamie Chadwick is affiliated.
ROKiT also sponsored Lewis Hamilton’s brother Nic during his efforts in the British Touring Car Championship and last month confirmed that it will act as the title partner of the Venturi Formula E outfit.
It is also the jersey sponsor of NBA team Houston Rockets.
All 20 of W Series’ cars, as well as drivers’ overalls, will feature ROKiT branding.
The full race livery will be revealed prior to the start of the 2020 season, which will get underway in St. Petersburg, Russia in support of the DTM Series, on May 29.
Jonathan Kendrick, Chairman of ROKiT, said: “We’ve been amazed by the progress made and the success achieved by W Series since it smashed into the world of motorsport, and we really want to be a big part of its future as it develops over the next few years.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome ROKiT to W Series,” added Catherine Bond Muir, Chief Executive Officer of W Series.
“As a high-tech, disruptive, customer-focused brand, ROKiT sits comfortably alongside W Series and its mission to change the face of motorsport and we’re delighted that we’ll be racing together in the coming years.
“It’s also exciting to see a brand that’s already present in Formula 1, Formula E and other well-established race series, recognising and supporting opportunities for women in sport, and taking immediate action. We expect this to be an emerging trend in 2020.”
