DTM has announced that the official pre-season test ahead of the 2020 season will be take place at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
The three day session will take place from March 16-18 at the Italian Grand Prix venue, which makes it debut on the DTM calendar to replace Misano.
DTM runners are allowed to perform individual tests during the winter months, but the official test by ITR, DTM’s parent organization, marks the only opportunity for all teams to share track time ahead of the April season opener at Zolder in Belgium.
Last year’s pre-season test was held at the Lausitzring, but will now be held at Monza, one of several new venues to join the calendar for the 2020 season.
Sweden’s Anderstorp, another circuit with F1 history, is new to the calendar, with Russia’s new Igora Drive circuit being the last addition to the calendar.
The championship also confirmed it will have a presence at this month’s Monza Rally Show, showcasing an Audi RS5 DTM at its booth.
The race weekend at Monza will take place in July, forming the fifth round of the DTM championship.
