DAMS has announced that ex-Red Bull junior Dan Ticktum and Formula 2 veteran Sean Gelael will compete for the team in the championship next season.
Ticktum, runner-up to Mick Schumacher in the 2018 Formula 3 championship, began the year in Super Formula but lost his seat upon being dropped by Red Bull’s driver programme.
Gelael has competed in the championship since its GP2 guise in 2015, racing for Carlin, Campos, Arden and Prema, and has also had sporadic Formula 1 test outings for Toro Rosso.
It marks an all-new line-up for DAMS, which claimed the 2019 Teams’ title with Formula 1-bound Nicholas Latifi and Sergio Sette Camara behind the wheel.
“It’s an honour to be joining DAMS in Formula 2 for the 2020 season,” said Ticktum.
“Having competed with them in GP3 in 2017, I’m looking forward to being back with the team and continuing to build on those successes.
“By winning the Teams’ title this year, DAMS has again shown that they are one of the best outfits out there.”
Gelael added: “I’m really humbled that DAMS has accepted me as one of their drivers, especially after the year they’ve had winning the Teams’ championship and with the tough driver market there is.
“Obviously, we’ll be looking to repeat that next season although it’s going to be challenging.
“We have big changes with the introduction of the 18-inch wheels, but we’ve got a great bunch of people that believe in their drivers.”
