BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Max Guenther has been stripped of his second-placed finish in the second Diriyah E-Prix following a post-race penalty.
Guenther had finished second to team-mate and winner Alexander Sims but the race result remained provisional with several cars having overtaken under the Safety Car.
The stewards handed Guenther a 24-second time penalty, which drops him down to 15th place, outside the points.
Mercedes-Benz EQ’s Stoffel Vandoorne, who finished third in Friday’s opening race, inherits the final podium spot, with Audi’s Lucas di Grassi moving up to second.
Further down the field, Nyck de Vries in the second Mercedes EQ car faced the same penalty after committing the same offence. This dropped the rookie outside of the top 10, with the Dutchman dropping from seventh to 16th.
Eighth-placed finisher Oliver Turvey also faced a disqualification from the E-Prix after it was found that the NIO 333 driver exceeded his car’s energy allowance by 0.04kWh.
Alongside the advancements of Lucas di Grassi and Stoffel Vandoorne to the podium, ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Edoardo Mortara moved to fourth while Oliver Rowland completed the top five.
Daniel Abt meanwhile took sixth while James Calado was seventh for Jaguar Racing. After starting from 24th, Jean-Eric Vergne was classified as eighth in the final results while Brendon Hartley and Antonio Felix da Costa completed the top 10.
