Nico Hulkenberg says he expects his motorsport future to be resolved within a few weeks, amid his impending exit from Renault.
Hulkenberg was overlooked for 2020 by the manufacturer in favour of Esteban Ocon, while a potential avenue at Haas was closed when the team opted to retain Romain Grosjean.
It ostensibly leaves Hulkenberg with few remaining berths on the 2020 Formula 1 grid, with only Alfa Romeo and Williams yet to confirm the identity of their respective second drivers.
Red Bull has already ruled Hulkenberg out of its reckoning for next year.
“Well the ideal [situation] would be that it’s all done now and we move on,” said Hulkenberg when asked for an update on his future.
“It’s not done yet. I think it’s a matter of another few weeks. I don’t think it will take that much longer to be honest
“Obviously the sooner the better, it’s good for everyone to have clarity but as of now it’s nothing yet.
“But hopefully in a couple of weeks’ time we’ll have clearance about that. But as of now it’s not decided, not confirmed.”
Hulkenberg made his Formula 1 debut in 2010 and has since had spells at Williams, Force India, Sauber and Renault.
