Former Formula 1 driver and 2009 World Champion Jenson Button will make his DTM debut in October, taking part in the last two races of the season at Hockenheim.
Button has been given the opportunity by Honda, which alongside Lexus and Nissan, will run single car entries as part of a joint venture between DTM and Super GT.
Button is the reigning Super GT champion alongside team-mate Naoki Yamamoto, however as DTM doesn't permit driver swaps, only the Briton will take part in the weekend's events.
"During my career as a driver I’ve always been an avid admirer of so many different forms of top level motorsport and the plan post F1 has always been to seek out new opportunities and challenges across those various categories," said Button.
"I’m delighted to say I’ve been given another such opportunity by Honda, GTA and DTM as I will be taking part in the last two rounds of the DTM championship at Hockenheim in my Team Kunimitsu Honda NSX.
"Nissan and Lexus from Super GT will also be entering a car each which will make an already fiercely competitive championship even more so and I can’t wait to experience it first hand."
Lexus and Nissan have yet to confirm which of their drivers will take part in the Hockenheim DTM weekend, which is the German Touring cars season finale.
As part of the joint venture, DTM will also take part in a Super GT round in November, which will be a non-championship race.
