Sebastian Vettel led the way during a competitive final practice session for Formula 1’s Italian Grand Prix, with most of the field covered by a second.
Vettel set a best time of 1:20.294 as drivers jostled for position, with some receiving slipstreams, and others completing their laps without a tow.
Vettel’s effort left him just 0.032s clear of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who got a tow across the line from a Renault, while Valtteri Bottas was 0.109s in arrears in third.
Friday pacesetter Charles Leclerc was fourth, while Daniel Ricciardo displayed encouraging pace for Renault by placing fifth, within three-tenths of ex-team-mate Vettel.
Renault’s eye-catching pace was reinforced by Nico Hulkenberg, who took seventh, with the pair sandwiching World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
The top seven drivers were separated by less than half a second.
Red Bull’s Alexander Albon was eighth, ahead of Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi and Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat, who took a top 10 spot at the expense of Carlos Sainz Jr. by four-thousandths of a second.
Sergio Perez, Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris all finished within a second of pacesetter Vettel.
Kimi Raikkonen and Kevin Magnussen were next up, with Romain Grosjean and Lance Stroll 17th and 18th, 1.3s off the pace.
Williams once again finished at the rear of the pack, two seconds down, with George Russell holding an advantage over Robert Kubica.
The session lasted a reduced 50 minutes in duration due to barrier repairs that were required after the earlier Formula 3 crash.
Qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix will take place at 15:00 local time.
