Rebellion Racing will be reverting to a single-car LMP1 entry for the majority of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The Swiss squad announced a late second entry at the 4 Hours of Silverstone for the #3 Rebellion R13-Gibson, driven to a third place finish by Nat Berthon, Pipo Derani and Loic Duval. At the time, the team said it was considering to run the car during every race in season 8, but the team has now confirmed that that will not happen.
The next time the #3 entry will be on the grid again is the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in April 2020, leaving the #1 to contest the upcoming rounds in Fuji, Shanghai, Bahrain, Sao Paulo and Sebring at the team's only entry.
The confirmation leaves the LMP1 grid down to five cars for the upcoming five rounds of the championship, with the #1 joining Toyota and Ginetta.
The Japanese manufacturer will be contesting the rest of the season with both TS050 Hybrids, while Ginetta enters two G60-LT-P1 – AERs, which are turbocharged non-hybrid prototype
The podium finish for Berthon, Derani and Duval did not count towards the championship standings as the car is not a full season entry. This promotes the fourth place car to third in the standings, this being the #5 Ginetta of Charlie Robertson, Egor Orudzhev and Ben Hanley. Team LNT also now holds second in the teams standings behind Toyota as the #5 finished ahead of the #1 in sunday's race.
