Formula 1 will hold a minute’s silence in memory of Anthoine Hubert, who was killed in an accident at Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday.
GP3 champion Hubert was involved in a high-speed collision during the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race on Saturday afternoon.
Hubert suffered a heavy impact with the barriers at Raidillon and his car was struck at unabated speed by Juan Manuel Correa.
Hubert, a member of Renault’s young driver academy, was pronounced dead at 18:35 local time, 90 minutes after the accident.
He is the first driver to pass away from injuries sustained at an FIA-sanctioned grand prix weekend since Jules Bianchi.
Correa, 20, is in intensive care in Liege hospital, having undergone surgery for multiple leg fractures and a minor spinal injury.
Sunday’s Formula 2 Sprint Race has been cancelled out of respect for Hubert.
The FIA Formula 3 race has been postponed and will take place during Formula 2’s original time slot at 11:00 local time.
A minute’s silence will be held prior to that race, at 10:50, and prior to the Formula 1 grand prix, at 14:53 local time.
