Pierre Gasly adamant he can turn around current situation

Pierre Gasly says he is “more motivated than ever” to prove that he can turnaround his Red Bull Formula 1 career in the wake of a difficult start.

Gasly joined Red Bull at the start of the campaign, following a year with Toro Rosso, but has so far finished a best of only fifth, and has scored just 43 points.

Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen, who has scored 126 points, lapped Gasly en route to his victory at the Austrian Grand Prix last time out.

It prompted a suggestion from Red Bull team boss Christian Horner that Gasly needed to “reset” ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix.

“I spent good days, relaxing, being at the factory working with the guys,” said Gasly.

“I’m pretty happy with what we did with the team and the direction we kind of are going in now and everything we’ve done in the last two weeks.

“I’m confident I will have a strong weekend here and relaxed, positive energy, motivated more than ever.”

Gasly is hopeful that a constructive sequence of meetings held since the most recent event will pay dividends on-track this weekend.

“What I really trust is what we say when we’re together in the office and in the factory when we see each other,” said Gasly.

“We’ve seen each other a few times since Austria. We’ve discussed together the things we need to improve on my side and what they can do on their side as well.

“I think that’s why I’m feeling quite confident we should see some good changes and improvement.

“So, not much to say really, just need to get out on track and move forward, but there should be improvement.”
