Charles Leclerc completed a clean sweep of Azerbaijan Grand Prix practice sessions as he led Saturday afternoon’s running at the Baku City Circuit.
In a relatively straightforward hour-long session, after Friday’s various dramas, Leclerc posted a best time of 1:41.604 as Ferrari laid down a marker.
Leclerc’s best effort was 0.198s up on Ferrari team-mate Sebastian Vettel, with third-placed Max Verstappen 1.248s down on his former karting opponent.
Mercedes had a low-key showing as Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton were only fourth and fifth respectively, 1.460s and 1.572s off the pace respectively.
Toro Rosso again had an encouraging session; Daniil Kvyat and Alexander Albon were sixth and eighth, either side of Haas’ Kevin Magnussen.
Sergio Perez was ninth for Racing Point while Kimi Raikkonen rounded out the top 10 for Alfa Romeo.
Renault was once more outside of the top 10 with Daniel Ricciardo 11th – albeit just 0.024s down on Raikkonen – while Nico Hulkenberg was only 16th, conceding his fast lap effort was far from clean.
Antonio Giovinazzi, who has a 10-place grid drop after taking on a new Control Electronics, took 12th, in front of McLaren pair Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr., with Lance Stroll 15th.
Romain Grosjean was over a second and 10 positions behind team-mate Magnussen, while Williams occupied its now-usual place adrift of the midfield group.
Robert Kubica was 18th, 1.6s down on Grosjean, with George Russell – in a new chassis after his FP1 drain incident – a further three-tenths behind.
Pierre Gasly opted against undertaking low-fuel runs in the wake of the penalty he sustained on Friday.
Gasly, six seconds down on Leclerc, will start from the pit lane after missing the signal to stop at the weighbridge at the end of FP2.
Saturday’s qualifying session is scheduled for 17:00 local time
