Codemasters have confirmed that for the first time, Formula 2 will be included within the official Formula 1 game, F1 2019.
The game, which is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC and launches two months earlier than usual on July 28, will for the first time include F2, which according to Paul Jeal, F1 Franchise Director at Codemasters, has been one of their most requested features.
"We’re also extremely excited to be bringing the FIA Formula 2 Championship to the franchise," he said. "It’s consistently been one of the most requested features from our community and it comes at a perfect time with the top three drivers from 2018 in George Russell, Lando Norris and Alexander Albon progressing to F1 for this season.
"We can’t wait to unveil more details on how this is integrated into the career mode in the coming weeks."
As well as F2, a special Legends Edition has been announced which will be released three days earlier and features one of F1's most intense rivalries, that of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.
Both drivers and their cars, the 1990 McLaren MP4/5B and Prost's Ferrari F1-90, will be made available in the game with eight exclusive race challenges.
To celebrate the game's tenth anniversary, Codemasters will also release an anniversary edition, which if pre-ordered, will include two race-winning cars from the classic 2010 season; the Ferrari F10, as driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, and Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button’s McLaren MP4-25.
Codemasters have also released further screenshots of the game, which can be seen here.
