Tatiana Calderon will graduate to Formula 2 this year after sealing a seat at the BWT Arden squad.
Calderon, 25, previously competed for Arden in GP3 in 2016, and will join reigning GP3 champion Anthoine Hubert at the operation.
Calderon has spent the last two years affiliated with Sauber – now racing as Alfa Romeo in Formula 1 – and had a handful of runs in Formula 1 machinery towards the end of 2018.
Calderon, who sampled Formula 2’s package in the end-of-season Abu Dhabi test last year, will re-join her 2016 team when pre-season running begins at Jerez next week.
“I’m very excited to compete in the FIA F2 Championship with BWT Arden,” she said.
“It is a new challenge in my career and a step closer to my ultimate goal: Formula 1.
“I’m sure we will achieve great things together. I can’t wait for testing to start next week!”
Team boss Garry Horner added: “We are delighted to welcome Tatiana back into the Arden fold.
“Her recent testing results in Formula 2 have been very impressive and I am certain she will be a strong team-mate alongside Anthoine.”
