Venturi has appointed Norman Nato as its reserve driver for the upcoming Formula E season.
Nato, 26, has already carried out running for the team during private testing and has played an active role in its simulator work.
Nato will act as back-up to regular racers Felipe Massa and Edoardo Mortara.
Venturi also has Simona de Silvestro on its books as development driver.
Nato competed in GP2 and Formula 2 from 2015 through 2017, taking three wins and a best of fifth in the championship, and in 2018 raced in the European Le Mans Series.
“Formula E has quickly established itself as a leading race series with many of the big constructors committing to participating,” said Nato.
“Venturi is one of the historic teams in the field and the team has developed impressively over the last few months.
“The job that’s been entrusted to me is very important, as a Formula E meeting takes places over just one day the team has to be prepared and in the best possible shape to make the most of the opportunities available in a short timeframe.
“Driving Formula E cars demands a lot of finesse and technique.
“I’ll be putting all of my energy into learning our new car and fine-tuning my driving so that we can perfect our race day performance and strategy.”
The 2018/19 Formula E season will begin in Saudi Arabia next weekend (December 14/15)
