The Racing Point Formula 1 team will change its name again prior to the start of the 2019 season, team boss Otmar Szafnauer has confirmed.
Racing Point is a company set up by Lawrence Stroll and partners following the successful takeover of the Force India F1 team. That led to the team being renamed Racing Point Force India for the remainder of the 2018 season.
Last week however on the official 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship entry list, the team name dropped Force India but retained the Racing Point title, leading many to believe this could be the name going forward.
However this is just an interim solution according to Szafnauer, until the team is fully rebranded in the new year.
"It is just a placeholder to indicate future change which will take place and be announced before the 2019 season," he told Autosport.
Whilst the name will change it's expected the livery will remain in its distinctive pink hue, with sponsor BWT set to continue its deal through next season.
The team will also retain Sergio Perez, who will partner new arrival Lance Stroll who moves from Williams, replacing Esteban Ocon.
