Williams driver Sergery Sirotkin says he wants some clarity from his team over his Formula 1 future amidst "unpleasant" rumours that he won't be racing next season.
Williams has yet to confirm who will partner George Russell next year, with the British rookie replacing the Force India-bound Lance Stroll.
Sirotkin is amongst a shortlist of drivers for the second seat including Esteban Ocon and Robert Kubica – the latter of which has reportedly been offered the seat.
However nothing official has been communicated and the Russian driver wants to know what's happening, having read about the rumours himself.
"Of course, right now, I want clarity," he told Russia's Sport-Express. "It is completely unpleasant to read the latest news and look at what is happening.
"In a team, everything is built on human trust, and everyone in it knows how much strength we have invested. Personally, I put my whole soul into the work this year."
Williams have struggled throughout 2018 and switched focus to next season early on in the hope it can turn its fortunes around, and Sirotkin says he wants to see the result of his and the team's hard work.
"I have repeatedly said that I have invested much more in this season than people see. The last thing I want is for the result of my work to go to someone else.
"It is clear that this year we worked for the future, the results should come next season. If you gave up and quit what you worked on, it will be a big disappointment."
