DTM organisers have confirmed that the new-for-2019 all-female single-seater W Series championship will act as a primary support series.
On Wednesday it was announced that the W Series, backed by ex-F1 racer David Coulthard, will launch in 2019, tasked with aiding female racers to climb the single-seater ladder.
W Series’ first event will take place alongside DTM’s 2019 season opener at Hockenheim from May 3 to 5, with further rounds scheduled at Zolder, Misano and Norisring.
Assen and Brands Hatch, in mid-August, will bring the inaugural six-round campaign to a close.
The new Formula 3 series, recently announced by ITR subsidiary Formel 3 Vermarktungs GmbH, will also support DTM at each event.
International F3 is to replace GP3 next year on the F1 support bill while the current-specification European F3 Championship is to continue under a different guise as a support event to the tin-top category.
