Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage has hit out at Liberty Media's draft 2019 Formula 1 calendar, describing a clash with a round of the NASCAR series a "bad call".
F1's calendar for next season was published on Friday and sees the United States Grand Prix pushed back by two weeks to November 3, the same date as NASCAR's 34th round which takes place at the Texas Motor Speedway – just 200 miles north of the Circuit of the Americas.
That likely means local fans will have to choose between the two and Gossage said it was another example of F1's "infamous indifference" toward fans.
"Shame on Formula 1 for doing this to the fans. Fans have recognised this as the NASCAR date on this weekend since its inception long before Circuit of the Americas was built.
"I would think a lot of fans – myself included – would enjoy going to both races. Now Formula One is making fans choose only one. Yet another bad call by Formula 1 showing their infamous indifference toward the fans."
Although the F1 calendar remains provisional and requires signing off by the World Motor Sport Council, it's unlikely any changes will be made.
Another clash which has been criticised is the Japanese GP which takes place on the same weekend as the World Endurance Championship's 6 Hours of Fuji.
