Mahindra Racing's Gen2 M5Electro car made its UK debut at the CarFest South Festival last weekend with development driver Sam Dejonghe putting the car through its paces in front of spectators.
Created by former Top Gear presenter and media personality/presenter, Chris Evans, CarFest began in 2012 and by holding two annual events, has raised £10.5million the BBC's Children in Need charity while entertaining more than 600,000 attendees.
“The whole team at Mahindra Racing have been working hard for many months developing the M5Electro, so it is exciting for us to have the opportunity to showcase what we have been working on to the Great British public,” said Mahindra Racing team principal Dilbagh Gill.
"It has been a blast driving the M5Electro at CarFest," added Dejonghe.
"As a driver, it’s always great fun to do these kinds of events and see the reactions of both Formula E fans, and those who have never seen a Formula E car in person before."
With a new generation of Formula E dawning for Season Five, the Mahindra M5Electro features double the battery life of its Season Four predecessor, meaning that mid-race car swaps will no longer feature in the all-electric single seater series.
As one of the founding manufacturers of Formula E, Mahindra will continue to conduct private testing before heading to the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia on October 16 for the series' official pre-season test ahead of the first race of the season on December 15.
With Felix Rosenqvist poised to join the IndyCar grid with Chip Ganassi Racing for 2019 and with Nick Heidfeld set to leave the series, it has not yet been announced who will drive for the Indian marque for the coming 2018/19 campaign.
