The Sepang International Circuit-run Petronas Yamaha MotoGP team has officially confirmed Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo as its line-up for the 2019 season.
The SIC team – which has outfits in Moto2 and Moto3 – announced earlier in the year it would be taking over the premier class MotoGP grid slots of the Angel Nieto squad, with reigning Moto2 champion Morbidelli heavily linked to one of the customer M1s vacated by the KTM-bound Tech3.
Talk of Quartararo, who only won his maiden grand prix in the Barcelona Moto2 race, joining Morbidelli, emerged prior to the summer break with Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis confirming this during the Austrian round.
During a press conference on Friday at Silverstone, SIC announced Morbidelli and Quartararo as its riders for next year's campaign.
Nieto team boss Jorge Martinez will remain with the SIC team in an advisory role. Current rider Alvaro Bautista will move to World Superbikes with Ducati, while team-mate Karel Abraham is expected to join Tito Rabat at Avintia.
The SIC squad's Moto2 and Moto3 line-ups were also unveiled on Friday, with Britain's John McPhee returning to Honda machinery with the team alongside Ayumu Sasaki in Moto3, while Khairul Idham Pawi will spearhead its Moto2 assault.
