Sergio Perez believes Force India still has the "most potential" of Formula 1's midfield teams as speculation surrounding his future within the team continues to grow.
The Mexican's future within the Silverstone outfit is under scrutiny, especially given the team's own financial setbacks.
When asked if he was looking at other options for 2019, he said: "Obviously we all want to be driving in the top two teams, Ferrari or Mercedes.
"Obviously it's very unlikely that I'll have an opportunity there for next year, so you have to look at what is the best option for your future where you can show your best talents. The last two years, the best of the rest in the drivers' championship.
Speculation also continues to mount as to whether the team will have new ownership in the near future as numerous parties having been linked with a possible buyout.
The lack of cash flow has appeared to hurt the team in terms of car development too; Perez admits it has been a tough road but their current results are still strong despite their current problems.
"Well at the moment, the situation is critical," he added. "There's no secret the financial problems have held the team back quite a bit.
"But when you look at the results, because Formula 1 is just about the results, we are fifth in the constructors' championship, and you cannot imagine the financial issues we've had so far.
"It just shows the potential that this team has."
Despite all of the current problems surrounding the team, he would still like to settle his own future in good time by adding: "I'm not in a hurry, because I know I'm in a good position. But yeah, the sooner the better."
